there are changes to the semester ticket for RUB students from the coming summer semester 2024.

The student parliament has decided to accept the new offer of the “Deutschland-Semesterticket” for RUB students at our suggestion, the suggestion of the General Students’ Committee (AStA).

The ticket for RUB students will continue to be solidarity-financed and, above all, cheaper.

Before signing the contract we held long and intensive negotiations with the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR). Talks were also held with politicians and other ASten. As reported last fall, the existing semester ticket contracts were terminated in September 2023 for the winter semester 2024/25. Due to the switch to the Deutschland-Semesterticket, these terminations will be withdrawn by mutual agreement.

The change to the Deutschland-Semesterticket leads to changes in the conditions of the ticket. The ticket will be cheaper in the coming semester. The price will decrease from the current 220.02 euros to 176.40 euros per semester. The price of the Deutschland-Semesterticket will be 60 percent of the regular Deutschlandticket. Along with that the semester contribution in the summer semester 2024 will be reduced to 325 euros (including 176.40 euros for the Deutschland-Semesterticket; 21.10 euros for the student body; 1.50 euros for the use of the nextbike by TIER bicycle rental system; 1 euro for the use of the Schauspielhaus Bochum; 125 euros for the AKAFÖ).

With the introduction of the Deutschland-Semesterticket in April, new regulations for the validity area of the ticket will also apply: On one hand, the new Deutschland-Semesterticket can be used on public transport throughout Germany. On the other hand, the regulations for taking bicycles and passengers with you will unfortunately no longer apply. We made demands for the continuation of these regulations, but they were not accepted, because the tariff regulations of the Deutschlandticket, which also apply to the new ticket, unfortunately do not provide for this. Due to the nationwide fare regulations, the ticket is only valid in digital form.
